Kearney’s first fire station

Old Red came to Kearney in 1949. This building was built to house it and was also used as City Hall. This building is now the North bay of the current police station on 33 highway.

In this picture you may notice that a water tank has been retrofitted to the truck. The chemical tanks were replaced by these and a PTO pump. The engine was upgraded to a newer, higher horsepower flathead V8 than the original. Electric spotlights and warning lights were added as well.
